And summer arrives full of colours that infuse Andorra and give its landscapes a distinctive beauty in which mountains play the leading role for nature lovers.
Hiking and excursions are one of the great attractions of Andorra in summer. There are several ecotourism routes where you can discover the country’s most important natural spaces and its flora and fauna.
Hiking Andorra’s different ecotourism routes will show you the country’s unique personality, highlighted by our three Natural Parks. The Comapedrosa Natural Park, located in Massana, owes its name to the mythical Alto de Comapedrosa peak (2,942 m); the Valle de Sorteny Natural Park, located in Ordino, has more than 700 species of flowers and plants; and finally the Valle del Madriu-Perafita-Claror Natural Park is the largest, with more than 40,000 protected hectares and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
During your itinerary you are very likely to encounter one of the 70 lakes located around the country or one of the 30 mountain refuges, 6 of which are staffed.
When the snow melts, ski resorts still have fun to offer. Grandvalira Resorts, Naturland and Vallnord become the perfect setting for outdoor activities such as adventure trails, zip lines, mountain biking and electric cycling.
The wide range of multi-adventure activities that you can find in Andorra also includes climbing routes, canyoning, adventure trails, and more.
Would you rather do miles on a mountain bike? If so, then Andorra is also the place for you! You will find several mountain trails that are perfectly suited for biking. Andorra also has 2 large bike parks that are specially prepared and equipped: the Vallnord Bike Park and the BMX-Four Cross in Arinsal, which are open and free to everyone.
If you prefer bigger challenges on a road bike, you have 200 kilometres on which you can enjoy some of the most spectacular landscapes in the country, such as the mountain passes of the Coma de Arcalís, the Pal station, Envalira or the Coll de la Gallina. All of them have been part of La Vuelta de España or the Volta Catalunya bike races, so get ready to give it your all on the pedals.
The Principality is a world leader in mountain sports and in recent years has become the venue for a number of major competitions and events.
In summer you can enjoy some of the world’s most important competitions, like the Vuelta a España and the Tour de France, or the World Mountain Bike Cup, in addition to the World Trial Championship, the Sportiva Trail, the Volta als Ports d'Andorra, the Spartan Race, the Gran Fondo Andorra and La Purito Andorra.
